Purpose & Calling

Jeremiah 1:5 Meaning: Appointed, Known, and Called by God

Jeremiah 1:5 means that God knew Jeremiah before birth, set him apart, and appointed him to a specific calling. For Christian women discerning purpose, the passage is a reminder that calling begins with God’s knowledge and direction—not public approval.

There is a question I ask every woman I coach, and I want to ask it of you now: what would change in how you speak — to yourself and to others — if you fully believed Jeremiah 1:5?

Sit with that for a moment. Before you were formed. Before you drew a breath. Before you did anything right or anything wrong. Before you succeeded or failed. Before you ever found your voice or lost it — He knew you. He set you apart. He appointed you.

That is not a promise for someone else. That is a promise for you. For the woman reading this right now, wondering if she has the right to rise, to speak, to take up space in a room. You were appointed. Not nominated. Not suggested. Appointed.

The Three Voices That Have to Agree

Alignment is a word I use often, and here is what I mean by it: the truth you think, the truth you speak, and the truth God declares over you are saying the same thing. Three sources. All in agreement.

Most of us get stuck not because our purpose isn't real, but because our voice hasn't caught up to what God has already declared. The internal narrative — shaped by old wounds, old seasons, old opinions — is still saying something different than what He is saying. And until those three voices align, your voice will keep sounding smaller than your calling.

Your Story Is Not a Wound — It Is a Weapon

Every hard thing you have been through — every season of silence, every loss, every relationship that tested your worth, every morning you chose to get up anyway — none of it was random. All of it is material. Your story is not a wound you carry. It is a weapon you deploy.

Your voice is how you deploy it.

A Question to Sit With This Week Where is there a gap between what God says about you and what your internal voice says about you? What would change in how you speak if you fully believed you were appointed, not just present? What is one place this week where you can let your voice agree with what God has already declared?

You do not need a bigger platform to start closing that gap. You need obedience in the room you are already standing in.
